Det Maritime Kalvø
Hear the history of Kalvø, which goes all the way back to the ice age

Kalvø is a small island in Genner Bay, connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway.
The island has been inhabited for thousands of years, as evidenced by numerous finds such as Viking Age burial mounds and flint tools.
In 1847, the island was purchased by the shipowner Jørgen Bruhn, who established one of the largest shipyards of its time here.
Today, Bruhn’s former residence, the manor house, has been converted into a museum, along with the remaining shipyard buildings.
Visitors can explore three different exhibitions: one on the history of Kalvø, one on the shipyard and its vessels, and one focusing on Genner Bay and the surrounding area.
